Anja is a Serbian Civil Engineer with 17 years of experience in different urban hydrotechnical infrastructure design projects. She holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Belgrade, where she currently works as an Assistant Professor teaching at bachelor, master and doctoral levels of studies. The focus of her research is in developing monitoring and modelling systems for assessing capabilities of different stormwater infiltration and nature-based systems (NBS) in mitigating flooding and environmental health risks and exploring possibilities for rainwater harvesting. In addition, she works with urban planners and landscape architects in enhancing urban public areas with NBS to improve public health and wellbeing of citizens. Within the LILY project, she is the WG1 co-lead.
Anja is part of the International Research and Training Center for Urban Drainage (IRTCUD) which is one of the oldest UNESCO Category II centers. Her professional experience is mostly dedicated to R&D and academia, and she has worked on projects in the Americas, Europe, Africa and Australia. She is the deputy director of the Institute for Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Belgrade.
